Location. The New World Mayfair Hotel Shanghai, China, is located on the southern edge of Zhongshan Park, which is an unusually large park (by Shanghai standards at least) that affords guests the same green backyard as was enjoyed by the wealthy British real estate tycoon that used it for his estate's grounds in 1914. The New World Mayfair Shanghai, opened in 2003, is located in the western district of Chang Ning, a newly developed area where many major international corporations have built their China headquarters.
Hotel Features. The New World Mayfair Hotel Shanghai is part of a large complex comprising service apartments and the New World Xinning Shopping Center, which features recognizable European brands. Guests will immediately sense the modern and luxurious feel of the hotel as they enter the glass encased lobby with tall concrete columns and defused lightening. The roof-top pool offers dramatic views the endless towers covering Shanghai's skyline. The on-site health club features a spa tub and sauna and offers fitness classes including yoga. Hotel dining and lounge options include the Champagne Bar, the Today and Tomorrow Restaurant, which features Taiwanese fare and Chez Lily Restaurant for regional and southern Chinese cuisine including dim sum.

Expert Tip. The Zhongshan Park Metro station, Line No. 2, is located across the street from the hotel's front entrance, which allows guests to travel the city aboard the modern and speedy Shanghai Metro system.

New rail connection between Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Shanghai city centre via Metro Line No. 2. The new Maglev Demonstration Line, one of the fastest trains in the world, now connects Pudong International Airport (PVG) to Longyang Station on Line No. 2 of the Shanghai Metro. Once at Longyang Road, Metro Line No. 2 can be taken to major destinations in both Pudong New Area and throughout Puxi, or the area west of the Huangpu River that includes Shanghai city centre. Construction is currently underway for Merto Line No. 2 to reach Hongqiao Airport (SHA), which is used primarily for domestic flights. This new convenience, set to open in 2006, will mean that a traveler that lands from an international flight at PVG will be able to connect to a domestic flight at Hongqiao using an all-rail journey with a single transfer at Longyang Road Station.
